Discovery Foundation and The IM4 Lab present Mentoring FOR and BY the Matriarchs Program

Discovery Foundation and IM4 Lab present ‘Mentoring FOR and BY Matriarchs’ Program - a free, online and live training/mentoring session for Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth who are interested in exploring careers in tech. This program is tailored to students in grade 8-12.

During the online sessions, participants will be introduced to augmented reality (AR) with the opportunity to create an AR project alongside an IM4 Lab technologist. IM4 Lab will guide youth through the creative imagining and software processes that go into building an AR project. Participants will use Unity Engine and Google Tilt Brush to learn AR creation and development, photogrammetry, visual coding, photography and videography basics including framing.

The goal of the MFBM Program is to offer Indigenous youth support and training opportunities that bring more potential participants into XR (VR/AR/360) productions and tech careers building an Indigenized tech-ecosystem. The sessions are geared towards supporting Indigenous youth, while open to all youth, who are thinking about exploring careers in digital media.
