Discovery Foundation announces the 2021 Technology Education Program partners

Vancouver, British Columbia, March 15, 2021: The Discovery Foundation, committed to the inclusive development and sustainability of the science and technology sector in BC, today announced the winners of their annual competition for program funding. 

“The Discovery Foundation is fully committed to assisting the growth, sustainability and resiliency of the BC science and technology sector, especially as we build back better in the post-COVID era”, says Discovery Foundation CEO, Dr. David G. Harper. “This year we have prioritized programs for the BC regions outside the Lower Mainland and will continue to promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability in all that we do. Our vision is that all British Columbians can contribute to the development of a more verdant and prosperous province.”

Our Technology Education Program provides $50,000 each for four successful agents in an annual competitive process. We also fund several ad hoc programs throughout the year. Please see our website, http://www.discoveryfoundation.ca for more details on the programs.

Major Programs ($50,000) have a significant impact of the BC tech sector by providing science and technology education to BC youth, mentorship to new and growing companies, and/or help to improve diversity and inclusion in the BC tech sector.

Since 2010, the Discovery Foundation has contributed more than $3.3MIL to foster science and technology in BC, providing nearly 6,100 education and mentoring sessions and events impacting nearly 39,000 British Columbian entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs, specifically those located in regional/rural areas, women in tech and Indigenous entrepreneurs.

Its principal activity is the delivery of the Technology Education Program via agents that provide education and guidance to entrepreneurs in BC.
