Discovery Foundation STEM Project Grant with Science Fair Foundation BC
Brought to you by Science Fair Foundation BC, the Discovery Foundation STEM Project Grant is a funding opportunity for youth across BC and the Yukon to explore science, technology and innovation through their own unique STEM project.
Created for youth looking for more financial support in their pursuit of STEM inquiry, the Discovery Foundation STEM Project Grant is inviting BC and Yukon students between the ages of 9 and 18 to apply for funding that will help them build their STEM project, or compete in a Science Fair Foundation BC event. Grants of between $50 to $200 will be awarded to successful applicants who can demonstrate the grant money will substantially contribute to their understanding of and development in STEM.
Applicants will be asked to describe their STEM project, what they are trying to discover, and how the Discovery Foundation STEM Project Grant funding will be used in relation to their project or STEM competition.
Eligible Expenses:
The following is a non-exhaustive list of items and services that funding may be used to purchase:
Miscellaneous supplies for the completion of a STEM project (batteries, wire, chemicals, etc.)
Access to scientific journals/articles/research
Access to lab equipment
Registration fees for a science fair or the Youth Innovation Showcase
Objectives:
To reduce financial barriers for youth in BC and the Yukon to develop STEM projects and compete in STEM events
To create a more equal playing field for students to explore project-based STEM learning
To ensure that all grade 4 to 12 students in BC and the Yukon have the opportunity to realize their interests and potential in STEM
Who Can Apply?
Youth who:
Are between 9 and 18 years old (grades 4 to 12)
Live in BC or the Yukon
Plan to participate in a science fair or the Youth Innovation Showcase in 2022
